Healthier Than Ever Before
“Let me start with the general positive changes I’ve noticed in my body. Of course, the more outwardly obvious is being leaner and stronger, which feels great and is reassuring for long term health. I read in the New York Times that contrary to previous assumptions about loss of muscle mass due to aging, we can maintain and increase our muscle mass as we age as long as we continue to work at it.
Less obvious, but in some ways more significant general body changes that I’ve noticed are a lower resting heart rate and better breathing. I can clearly feel slow, calm, strong and steady heart rate when my body is at rest. I think my breathing is more efficient because my core muscles are stronger, because we concentrate on breathing in the gym, and because we practice maximizing our endurance. My breaths are fuller and deeper now all the time, not just when I’m working out. My allergies bother me much less. Again, both of these factors are key to long term health.
I’ve been a bike commuter all my (working) life, and biked everywhere as a kid too. I’m now in my forties, and worked out at other gyms. But in the two years I’ve been at MBG I am leaner, stronger, with better blood flow and breathing than ever in my life. These things help me to be a better cyclist. I can move faster with more efficiency and do not tire readily. My stronger muscles mean I can sustain proper posture for maximum power while riding. I feel more prepared to manage difficult riding conditions and enjoy my rides more than ever. When my ride is over, I feel energized and relaxed at the same time.”
First of all I would just like to thank you for starting MBG! Since reading the Outside article that featured MBG last year, I have explored your website and training videos on youtube. I have changed the way I train and the my philosphy for training others. Though I am only a senior at UNC, I have not officially trained anyone. But the influence MBG has had on me will most certainly change the way I train others.
This past Tuesday it was awesome to join a FIT class to truly see how MBG works! The drive from North Carolina to Madison (and back) was well worth it. I was also glad you were there and I could meet the creator of MBG and the guy that’s been instructing me through workouts on youtube(prison workout, Xgames workout, etc) for the past few months. I wish I could have stayed in Madison longer. Which is why I hope to come back to Madison in July after I graduate from UNC and take the CNT courses. I have no clue what is in store for me career-wise after graduating but I hope staying in Madison and learning from you and the MBG crew will be a great starting point. I wish you all the best in continuing the revolution!
Changing the Industry
I learned so much in such a short amount of time. Being at the MBG has reignited a fire under my butt to train even harder and I will apply what I learned from this past weekend into my training for years to come.
Thanks again for what you are doing to change this industry. Your example has positively impacted my life, and I in turn hope to pass along what I have learned to the people in my sphere of influence.

A New Beginning
I joined Monkey Bar Gym about 2 months ago because I needed help to achieve a lifelong body composition goal. When I started I was in good condition, but I didn’t have the look that I wanted. I knew that in order to go from good to great, I would need support, coaching and fresh ideas. I knew all the principles of MBG and how to do it on my own, but I had “fallen off the wagon” in my fitness and diet habits.
I signed up for the 60 day challenge and set some pretty aggressive goals for myself on Day 1. I committed to working out 4-5 days per week at Monkey Bar and continuing my Krav Maga training as well. I certainly came in with a “going on a diet” mentality. However, that’s all shifted through my journey on the 60 day challenge. I’m in a process of discovering what works best for me in exercise, diet, and recovery and changing my way of life.
The staff at MBG have been great mentors through this process. I’ve found that if I come in willing to listen and learn, these guys will give everything to ensure that I have success. These guys have partnered with me and my results have been great. I started the challenge with a 37 in waist and ~19% body fat. I expect to finish the challenge next week with a 34 in waist and ~12% body fat. I’ve lost 16 lbs of fat and maintained my lean body muscle during the process.
I’ve also gained a lot of strength in the process. My capacity to do the various exercises has skyrocketed as I’ve learned the correct form. 30 days into exercising at Monkey Bar Gym, my performance results were up 50-75% across the board.
The plant based diet that these guys teach is the real deal. I totally cut all caffeine from my diet, which was a big thing for me. I have more energy that sustains throughout the day. I recover quicker from my workouts so I have the capacity to keep working out. When I take a “cheat meal”, I can tell the difference in the way my body feels and performs. I haven’t gone on my diet. I’ve changed the way I eat so I can perform at my top capacity.
If you are looking for a way to reach your goals or want to take your fitness to the next level, I can’t recommend Monkey Bar Gym highly enough. It’s real world fitness with the ego checked at the door. These guys will partner with you to help you reach your goals and provide you the strategies you need to be successful in reaching your goals. Fun workouts, great supportive group of people to work out with, fantastic results.

Changed My Life
The Monkey Bar Gym has truly changed my life. I finally understand what fitness and health truly mean. There are so many positive life changes that have happened to me and I credit the amazing trainers with much of my success.
When I started at MBG I had been struggling with knee pain for the past 20 years. I have seen countless doctors and physical therapists with an overwhelming “sorry, not much we can do to help you.” I have had 2 knee surgeries and had started to give up on exercising because of the pain that I was always in. Now, the pain is virtually gone. The science behind the MBG works! I now am starting to understand how my body works and can isolate what causes pain to fix it using Eichens Yoga and recovery strategies. Not only do I see massive positive changes in the shape of my body, I am stronger than I have ever been as well. The trainers at the gym are much more than just trainers – they are often counselors and people that I am proud to call friends. They are always happy to listen and make sure that I am on the right track with what I am doing in the gym, and outside of the gym. They have helped me walk through some very difficult struggles that I have with food and I will be forever grateful for the love and kindness shown to me during that time. The 60 day challenge has been a huge success and I feel like the sky is the limit as far as what I am able to physically accomplish. I just reached my goal of doing unassisted pull ups and can’t wait to continue setting, and reaching, my strength goals. The other members involved in the challenge are also wonderful. It truly functions like a little family at this gym and I feel very blessed to be part of it!”
